MAINTENANCE ENGINEER / NEWCASTLE UNDER LYME / £35,000 TO £45,000 PER ANNUM + BENEFITS

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Maintenance Engineerto join our existing maintenance team.

Broxap is a family owned engineering business based in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire, established in 1946. We are amongst the market leaders in the design and manufacture of street furniture, shelters, covered walkways, and playground equipment.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery in industrial manufacturing settings. Carrying out routine maintenance tasks, organising repairs and being involved with the control and monitoring of devices and occasionally in the manufacture of items that will help in maintenance. You will also work with the Maintenance Manager to come up with innovative ideas and strategies to improve the development and progress of manufacturing and processing procedures within the facility.

Whats on Offer?

  • Salary of £35,000 to £45,000 per annum depending on experience.
  • Working hours, Monday to Friday rotating shifts 6am-2.30pm andpm - additional hours as may be required.
  • 25 days holiday entitlement plus 8 bank holidays, and free car parking.
  • The work may involve out of hours working, including nights and weekends, and involves being on call on a rota basis, for which a callout payment of £30 is applicable. Overtime is paid for hours on site.

Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer:

  • Carrying out routine maintenance work and responding to equipment faults.
  • Diagnosing breakdown problems and performing quality inspections on jobs.
  • Fitting new parts and ensuring equipment is working correctly.
  • Controlling maintenance tools, stores, and equipment.
  • Handling emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs
  • Working with specialist factory assembly lines equipment, such as PLCs.
  • Writing maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning guidelines.
  • Ensuring there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.
  • The work may involve extended periods working on the factory floor and to tight deadlines in response to breakdown emergencies.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Qualified to NVQ 3 or equivalent ONC C&G P1 P2 2320, and 18th Edition IEE Regulations (essential).
  • C & G Inspection & testing (desirable).
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming experience.
  • Experience working on various plant and machinery, including Amada press brakes and laser machines, plus CNC and routing woodworking machinery.
  • Practical hands-on approach with good mechanical knowledge with electrical experience,
  • Experience of the powder coating process.
  • The capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures.
  • The ability to lead and motivate others and the skills to and liaise with people at all levels.
  • Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • The confidence to respond positively when under pressure.
