Your new companyYou will be working for a statutory harbour authority that has responsibility for ongoing management and safety of ports across the south.
Your new roleHays are looking for a highly motivated, active and proficient person. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all health & safety and environmental protocols within the port across maintenance, operational and construction activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards and assisting in working towards decarbonisation/net-zero. The successful candidate will be expected to work well in a multi-functional team and will be required to carry out other duties associated with a busy working port.
KeyResponsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.* Conduct regular risk assessments and audits and chair H&S committee meetings.* Make monthly written reports for the Board of Directors.* Regularly review and ensure compliance with safety management systems.* Provide training and awareness programs to employees regarding health, safety and environmental protocols.* Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; and implement corrective actions.* Liaise with regulatory and industry bodies and ensure all statutory provisions are met.* Liaise with employees, subcontractors and suppliers on Health & Safety matters.* Review the production of third-party risk assessments/method statements, approve Permits to Work and advise on health and safety matters.* Promote a strong culture of safety and wellbeing throughout the port, monitor and report.* Be a proactive member of the management team.* Assist the team in working towards net-zero/decarbonisation.* Act as fire warden, carry out fire risk assessments, advise on fire safety etc.* Oversee training and qualification of all staff ensuring that records are kept updated.* Assisting with the day-to-day management of port operations.What you'll need to succeedThe successful candidate will have:
* NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent qualification* Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices* Working knowledge of CDM Regulations* Excellent communication, leadership and IT skills* Full Driving LicenceWhat you'll get in returnIn return, you will receive a wide range of generous company benefits.#
