Head Chef (Full Time)
We are looking for a chef to come and head up the open kitchen at Post this Summer/Autumn.
The ingredient-led menu will be small but confident in its seasonality and quality. It will focus on produce grown on our nearby plot alongside other local suppliers, with the menu changing according to whatever is in season that week.
Kitchen opening hours will likely be Wednesday to Sunday, including Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Start date flexible from summer / autumn, happy to adapt around the perfect fit.
Key experience
- Solid experience in a professional kitchen.
- Expertise in ingredients, with a knack for sharing knowledge with the team and guests.
- A passion and interest in homegrown produce in order to help plan the growing calendar of the market garden.
- Basic ability to navigate POS restaurant software.
- A cooperative spirit, happy to work in a close knit team.
- Salary : £25,000 - 35,000 pa (tronc inclusive) according to relevant experience. Option of profit share dependent on experience.
About the team
Founders Florence and Ben Thompson live just outside Newnham where Florence oversees an abundant kitchen garden, the produce of which will be tailored according to the chef's needs.
Ben is director of a London-based design studio most recently recognised for designing Heckfield Place. Some of his happiest collaborations have been the ones centred around food, having worked over the years with chefs Skye Gyngell, Rosie Sykes and Margot Henderson.
They are joined by Lydia Knoop, experienced FoH manager, and wine writer for Off Grid. Restaurants that Lydia has set up and managed include Lode & Stijn (Berlin) LOK6 (Berlin) and Ona (Lisbon)
