Salary of circa £26,000 per annum plus benefits

Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be recruiting on behalf on their loyal client in the Newport area who is seeking to find an experienced Accounts Assistant to join its friendly team.

Working as part of the finance team and reporting to the Accountant, the successful candidate will possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft office and SAGE 50, as well as having a background in finance even if experience if limited. The successful candidate will need to work to strict deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities will include -

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly departmental accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly Flash reports.
  • Management of Creditors including supplier pay runs.
  • Processing Purchase Invoices
  • Filing and maintaining information logs as appropriate.
  • Data Entry to both SAGE 50 (including coding) and our logistics system   
  • Resolving invoice queries with suppliers and members of staff.
  • Chasing key staff for return and approval of invoices.
  • Producing the month end reconciliations.
  • Entering expense claims & Credit card returns.
  • Petty Cash Reconciliation
  • Maintaining the Cashbook
  • Carrying out any other ad hoc duties as requested by line management

Profile -

  • Competent user of Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of SAGE 50c would be an advantage.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Good communication skills
  • Minimum education requirements: AAT Level 3 or above.
  • Willingness to progress and learn whilst taking on more responsibility over time
