Reporting into our Group Accounting Manager, the Finance Assistant will work within the Reporting team, responsible for delivery of key financial information to internal and external stakeholders.

Role responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Processing of monthly journals onto general ledger system
  • Undertake reporting to external parties, including Office of National Statistics & Finance & Leasing association.
  • Undertake payroll preparation under the guidance of the Group Accounting Manager
  • Preparation of monthly VAT returns
  • Lead effective financial control environment within the wider business with a specific focus on data governance.
  • Lead first line of defence routines to test the effectiveness of the control environment.

Key skills required:

  • Graduate/similar, probably aiming to work towards accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Understanding and practical experience of accounting principles.
  • Experience of operating strong financial controls
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills - able to undertake lookups and pivot tables as a minimum.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Keen to develop accounting skills and to introduce process improvements to assist efficiency.
