Reporting into our Group Accounting Manager, the Finance Assistant will work within the Reporting team, responsible for delivery of key financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
Role responsibilities:
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Processing of monthly journals onto general ledger system
- Undertake reporting to external parties, including Office of National Statistics & Finance & Leasing association.
- Undertake payroll preparation under the guidance of the Group Accounting Manager
- Preparation of monthly VAT returns
- Lead effective financial control environment within the wider business with a specific focus on data governance.
- Lead first line of defence routines to test the effectiveness of the control environment.
Key skills required:
- Graduate/similar, probably aiming to work towards accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Understanding and practical experience of accounting principles.
- Experience of operating strong financial controls
- Good Microsoft Excel skills - able to undertake lookups and pivot tables as a minimum.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Keen to develop accounting skills and to introduce process improvements to assist efficiency.
