Bookkeeper

Location: Newport

Position: Full time

Salary: £30k DOE

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Bookkeeper to join a leading accountancy practice. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accountancy practice and be confident handling a variety of bookkeeping and financial tasks both independently and collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform data processing and reconciliations both on-site at client premises and in the office

  • Conduct bookkeeping to the level of accruals and prepayments

  • Prepare VAT returns in accordance with relevant regulations

  • Assist in the preparation of financial accounts

  • Handle client queries and provide timely, professional responses

  • Undertake additional ad-hoc duties as required

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice

  • Proficient in using Sage Line 50, Xero, and similar accounting software

  • Strong understanding of control accounts and reconciliation processes

  • Able to work independently and manage workload effectively without supervision
