Training & Competence Business Partner | Newport | £50,000 - £65,000 per annum | On-site

The Opportunity

We are searching for an engaging and high energy Training & Competence Business Partner with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering to build a visible training presence within a state of the art, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales. Our client is an award winning and global leader in the manufacture of railway vehicles, equipment, and components for railway systems.

As a Training & Competence Business Partner, you will take ownership of training and competency programmes, ensuring the workforce remains highly skilled, compliant, and audit-ready. You will play a key role in delivering training, managing external provision, and overseeing assessment verification. There is an opportunity to gain the Internal Verifier qualification if you don’t already hold this.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training schedules in line with business needs and budgets.
  • Maintain up-to-date training records and manage SAP Success Factors.
  • Support training audits and ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Deliver internal training and oversee external training providers.
  • Act as Internal Verifier (or work towards qualification).
  • Work closely with department heads to define training requirements.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.
  • City & Guilds A1 Assessor qualification (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience delivering training in a manufacturing environment.
  • High-energy, engaging training style.
  • Self-motivated with strong organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Rolling stock experience.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Internal Verifier (IV) qualification (or willingness to obtain).
