This is an exciting role for a Manufacturing Design Engineer to be focused on the design and development of improvements to product and processes to support manufacturing growth, new products, and continuous improvement projects!
Within this team, the Manufacturing Design Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring manufacturing and its support teams are planning and completing work to the correct specifications, in the most efficient way possible.
In this role you will be responsible for yield improvement, process control and documentation control. It is expected that the Manufacturing Design Engineer improves yield by collecting build data, analyse it and put corrective actions in place to prevent yield loss.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Maintain tooling and equipment by arranging calibration, safety check, and regular control.
- Release, update and control of working instructions, part specifications and BOM.
- Assist and sign off assemblers.
- Resolve incoming material issues.
- Analysis of customer returns (RMA), define root cause and preventive actions.
- Introduce new variants or processed to the production line.
- Resolve any issues with products build on manufacturing floor.
- Interact with suppliers regarding the turnkey items quality and issues.
- Interact with Engineering team to ensure a smooth transition of the new product from Engineering to Manufacturing.
Your experience & qualifications
- Holds a Degree in Physics, Material, Mechanical or Electronics or have an equivalent level of experience.
- Experience in controlling either of four processes: die attach, wire bond, soldering or mechanical assembly.
- Experience in developing or updating working instructions and BOM.
- Knowledge of sourcing tooling, equipment, and parts for manufacturing.
- Has established regular process control and data tracking.
- Experience in yield data analysis and report.
- Demonstrated success leading quality improvement in production line.
- Has had exposure to quality control systems.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment ideally within the semiconductor industry.
