Technical Architect

We are seeking a Technical Architect to play a pivotal role in our organisation. This position involves collaborating with the network services team on product selection, design assurance, and overseeing the implementation of operational technology solutions to ensure seamless integration with IT infrastructure. The role is crucial in optimising industrial processes, enhancing resilience, and leveraging emerging technologies within operational environments.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Develop and maintain a complex and critical operational technology architecture that aligns with organisational goals and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand operational requirements and translate them into scalable and secure technology solutions.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of operational technology systems, ensuring compatibility with existing IT infrastructure.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on the integration of industrial control systems, sensors, and automation technologies.
  • Design and implement cybersecurity measures for operational technology systems, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits of operational technology systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with vendors to assess and select appropriate hardware and software solutions for operational technology needs.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in operational technology and cybersecurity, providing strategic recommendations for their adoption.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA, PLCs, DCS, and other operational technology components.
  • Proficient in implementing cybersecurity measures for operational technology, including network segmentation, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience in integrating operational technology systems with enterprise IT systems for seamless data flow and analytics.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, and edge computing, and their application in optimising operational processes.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across departments.
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security or equivalent.
  • Significant hands-on experience in an operational and technical architect role within the field of industrial control systems.
  • Certifications such as CISSP or CSSA are highly desirable.
  • Experience in industrial sectors such as manufacturing, energy, or utilities is a plus.
