Our successful client on the outskirts of Newport are partnering with us to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join them on a permanent basis.

You will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by implementing rigorous safety policies, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Our client are seeking an experienced candidate with 10 years Health and Safety experience, who has a background in the Construction or Housing Association sectors. Candidates must have NEBOSH and SMSTS/SSSTS qualifications.

The Role:

  • Partner with all departments to ensure that all materials, processes and practices are compliant with H&S standards.
  • Provide training and ensure all operatives have the correct qualifications.
  • Working with Ops and Contracts Managers to ensure that training records are updated.
  • Maintain and manage a planned training toolbox directive across the business.
  • Ensure that all subcontractors work to health & safety standards.
  • Oversee the full estate and fleet to ensure regular maintenance and corrective actions are taking place.
  • Create a management dashboard to ensure implementation of SMART objectives.
  • Maintain ISO45001 and all SSIP accreditations.
  • Report to the SLT on performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide costed implementation plans for any gaps to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Work with all facility support contractors, fire safety, heating and electrical, hygiene, mechanical, vehicles etc. to ensure there is a managed programme of maintenance.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience within Health and Safety.
  • Construction or Housing Association sector experience.
  • NEBOSH and SMSTS/SSSTS qualifications.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Ability to plan and organize, develop and create contingency plans.
  • Ability to effectively analyse and evaluate complex information.
  • Strong ability to make sound and data led decisions.
  • Experience in a project management/operational role.
  • Full, clean driving licence with the willingness to travel.
