Your Role as an ASD Teaching Assistant:

Tailored Support for Pupils: You will support students with ASD by adapting classroom materials and tasks to ensure they are accessible and engaging.

Encouraging Positive Interactions: Promote inclusivity in the classroom by encouraging positive peer relationships and ensuring that every pupil feels respected and valued.

Implementing IEPs: Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), monitoring and adjusting strategies to support pupils in achieving their goals.

Effective Behaviour Management: Use proven strategies to support pupils with ASD and behavioural challenges, ensuring that they remain engaged and focused in their learning.

Emotional and Pastoral Support: Provide students with emotional support, helping them to build resilience, confidence, and social skills.

Collaboration with Teachers and Parents: Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and parents to provide a well-rounded support system for each pupil, helping them to succeed in their learning journey.
Requirements:

Experience with ASD Pupils: Previous experience working with children with autism is highly desirable, but a passion for working with ASD students is essential.

Commitment to Inclusion: A genuine passion for promoting inclusive education and creating an environment where all students feel accepted and capable.

Classroom Management Skills: Ability to manage a range of behaviours and support children in staying focused and achieving their potential.

Flexible Availability: You should be open to part-time or full-time roles, with flexibility to work short-term or longer-term positions.

DBS Check: You must have an enhanced DBS check on the update service or be willing to apply for one (we can assist with the application process).

EWC Registration: You must be registered, or willing to register, with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – Vision can assist with registration.
