The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a HR Manager to join our divisional HR Team. This role will be based at our Abercarn Site in Wales.  The role is available on a permanent part-time basis, and we are able to consider flexibility in working patterns/hour arrangements.

The HR Manager is a visible and critical part of the Abercarn Leadership Team. In this role you will be based on site each day and work closely with the Divisional HR Manager and HR colleagues to deliver a full, value adding HR service.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Working in collaboration with the Sites Leadership and divisional HR Teams to deliver people focused HR excellence and expertise in the following key areas of focus:
    • Employee Engagement & Culture Development
    • Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging
    • Leadership Development
    • Employee Wellbeing
    • Resourcing – short-, medium- and long-term strategies to develop a pipeline of talent
    • Talent Management & Succession Planning
    • Learning & Development
    • Community focus
  • Being the first point of contact on site for all people related matters including recruitment, investigations, disciplinary and grievance hearings, performance, absence and change management.
  • To provide and analyse key business statistics (such as overtime, absence, headcount etc) to site stakeholders to ensure risk areas are identified, that site performance is monitored, and HR support and advice is evidence based.

Successful candidates will be CIPD qualified and able to demonstrate significant HR partnering experience with an ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the business and influence decision makers.  Being people focused in strategic thinking and able to champion colleague experience within the business.

  • The ability to offer HR expertise in a wide range of generalist HR matters including being up to date with current employment law
  • Reliability and credibility, taking responsibility for delivery as part of the Leadership Team.
  • Awareness of self-impact and an ability to adapt their style to be the most effective business partner.
  • Active listening and questioning skills
  • Experience of operating in a unionised environment
  • An ability to work independently and use initiative.
  •  Being a good team player is essential.
  • High quality administration skills including proficient IT skills in word, excel, outlook and other in-house database systems.
