Robert Half have partnered with an exisiting manufacturing client in the Newport area to recruit an Infrastructue Engineer on a perrmanent basis. Job Overview

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing our local IT infrastructure while providing 2nd/3rd level IT support. This role will require collaboration with global IT teams, a focus on local IT security, and support for manufacturing systems in a 24/7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. IT Infrastructure Development and Operation

    • Manage and maintain the local network and telephone systems using Cisco and Fortinet technologies.
    • Develop and administer the local VMware ESXi environment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  2. Windows Server and Active Directory Administration

    • Administer Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Servers, and client systems to support business operations.
    • Ensure seamless integration and operation of IT systems within the infrastructure.
  3. Business Application Support

    • Provide technical support for business applications hosted on IT infrastructure.
    • Collaborate with business units to ensure application performance meets operational needs.
  4. IT Security and Compliance

    • Ensure the security of the local IT environment by implementing best practices and policies.
    • Develop and improve security measures in alignment with global IT standards.
  5. Collaboration and Initiative Involvement

    • Actively participate in local and global IT projects and initiatives.
    • Work closely with global IT teams and business stakeholders to align IT operations with business goals.
  6. Technical Support

    • Provide 2nd/3rd level IT support for hardware, software, and network issues.
    • Diagnose and resolve IT issues promptly to minimize downtime.
RequirementsExperience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and support roles providing 2nd/3rd Line support.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong expertise in managing local network environments, specifically with Cisco switches.
  • Proficiency in VMware ESXi for virtualization and infrastructure management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, and client systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux server environments is an advantage.
Additional Skills:
  • Experience in manufacturing IT systems and 24/7 operational environments is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Salary/logistics:

  • £35,000-£45,000 (dependent on experience) + additional benefits
  • On site in the Newport area as standard - 1 day WFH
