Robert Half are working with a growing Newport based client in the Manufacturing/Production industry to recruit an IT Systems Manager on a permanent basis. This is a standalone IT Management role that requires a technical resource with commercial understanding.Role responsibilities;

  • Ensure a robust and high performing IT infrastructure is in place, which can support delivery of business objectives and operates at maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain and upgrade networks and servers, implementing efficient server upgrades and migrations when required.
  • Manage and monitor controlled access to the company's network and associated systems.
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place to safeguard the business against potential threats.
  • Internal responsibility for company's ERP system, including support and maintenance.
  • Accountable for facilitating software and hardware upgrades, ensuring they are delivered successfully and within budgetary limits.
  • Seek to identify, propose and implement improvement opportunities, ensuring alignment of IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements.
  • Evaluate IT risks and develop network recovery and backup processes
  • Be the point of escalation for all technical issues.
  • Delivering comprehensive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support to internal users on business systems
  • Responsibility for ensuring the ERP system is fit for purpose and meets internal stakeholder requirements.
  • Maintain and develop Local VBA based solutions and provide controlled user access to data from the ERP system using SQL/VBA.
  • Deliver training where required to facilitate efficient utilisation of systems and ensure high awareness of cyber and other security threats
  • Manage the IT and telecoms budgets.
  • Manage all IT contracts and third-party relationships, coordinating and delegating tasks, projects and monitoring third party support as well as ensuring the business is receiving value for money.
  • Procure IT and telecoms equipment to meet business requirements and recommend appropriate lifecycles for business equipment.
  • Prepare costings, project appraisal and implementation plans for all IT projects.
  • Set up IT equipment and systems for new team members.
  • Resolve other day to day issues as and when they arise.

Skills/experience:

  • Senior-level IT experience, in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • A hands-on approach and a versatile IT skill set, ready for strategic planning and daily operations alike.
  • A robust understanding of cybersecurity, and safeguarding digital assets.
  • Excellent ERP support experience
  • Proficiency in User Support, including Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, and Office
  • Experience in delegation and monitoring third party support
  • Experience of the following is essential: SQL server, VBA development, familiarity with LAN and WAN networks.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the following is desirable: Bar code solutions, Azure AD, Active Directory, InTune, a solid understanding of Microsoft Windows 10 & 11 environments, including troubleshooting and VLAN configuration.
  • A leader, with high quality communication skills and a keen collaborator, who proactively seeks to influence business improvement.
  • A problem solver with a flexible approach to the role and a desire to ensure business and operational continuity are maintained at all times.
  • Practical exposure to delivery of IT projects.

Salary/Logisitics:

  • £50,000-£55,000
  • Onsite as standard in Newport offices
