As an ICS Cyber Security Research Specialist, you will lead projects, provide consultancy, and collaborate across internal and external networks to drive advancements in industrial control system security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination: Facilitate ICS cyber security innovation activities, build working networks, and represent the team at conferences and events.
  • Collaboration: Partner with peers and external organisations to ensure cyber security is integrated into projects and maintain external innovation agreements.
  • Consultancy: Provide expert advice and training in ICS cyber security across the organisation.
  • Innovation: Conduct state-of-the-art research, develop prototype solutions, and maintain a roadmap addressing future ICS cyber security threats and opportunities.

Requirements

Academic

  • Must Have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications & Networking, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Must Have: Recent PhD or Master's in ICS Cyber Security.
  • Advantage: Professional training or certifications in cybersecurity.

Experience

  • Must Have: Expertise in industrial control system security and experience in research or solution development.
  • Advantage: Publications in cybersecurity, network or cloud security expertise, and experience managing R&I projects.

Research Skills

  • Must Have: Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills in English.
  • Advantage: Track record of academic publications, knowledge of NDAs and intellectual property management

Technical Expertise

  • Advantage: Programming knowledge (Python preferred), configuration of IP networks and virtualized infrastructure, experience with firewalls, IDS, IPS, and honeypots.
  • Advantage: Insight into network cyberattacks and their mitigation, and certifications like Cisco CCNA/CCNA-S.

Outputs

  • Prototype solutions, configurations, and shared expertise.
  • Horizon scans, market studies, and technical reports.
  • Contributions to academic funding, patents, and publications.
