Facilities and Building Services Technician

Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Facilities and Building Services Technician on behalf of our client based in Newport, Shropshire.

The primary role of a Building Services Technician is to optimize property conditions, service & standards whilst keeping a safe working environment for all on site. The Building Services Technician will maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to all stakeholders, providing 1st fix response to fault finding with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry & decorating skills.

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00am 17:00pm W/ 1 hour for lunch | Additional hours may be required dependant on business needs.

Salary: £40,000 per annum DOE.

Duties include but not limited to:

To provide infrastructure, facilities and building maintenance
H&S adhered to and improved Across site, reporting issues that arise on site.
Area standards up to audit level.
Ensure 5S standards are always maintained.
Ensure compulsory PPE is always worn.
Challenges current processes and practices to identify new opportunities.
Carries out equipment and plant condition appraisals.
Comply with organisational safety, policies and procedures and identify hazards and reduce them.
To diagnose simple faults and to test, repair domestic water, Sanitation systems, Basic Single and three phase electrical installation repairs.
To observe, recognise, report and rectify substandard conditions of building finishes, fixtures and fittings.
To carry out basic plumbing, mechanical and carpentry tasks.
Accurately enter data onto the companies CMMS System, including remedial work and booking of parts.
To support hygiene team by removing, replacing and installing guards to aid cleaning.
Carry out all assigned planned preventative maintenance including:
- Greasing bearings
- Checking integrity of machinery
- Meter readings
- Daily maintenance checks and walks
- Cleaning & changing filters
- Check cooling systems are working without faults.
- Monitor water levels and usage
- Complete route cause analysis with relevant site teams.
- Plant room Checks
- Contractor Control

Ideal Candidate:

Electrical skills, plumbing skills, Knowledge of Plant rooms, including air compressors, Refrigeration plants, AHUs, some carpentry skills Due to the various jobs that are required to be completed around site. It could be a door needed to be re-hung, leaky tap, hanging up notice boards, changing of bulbs etc.
Be physically fit, due to deliveries and collections of kit/equipment to site.
Background of maintaining equipment within a services/utilities environment.
CMMS System experience.
IEE Wiring regulations qualification.
Must be able to demonstrate competencies in: Strong health and safety awareness, Excellent hands-on skills, Good oral and written communication skills.
