Job Title: Packaging Technician Freight Industry
Location: Newport, Wales (NP19)
Hours: 37.5hrs Mon-Fri (08:30 16:30), OT available
Reports to: Site Manager
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Role Overview:
- Collaborate with Lead Crate Builder and Packer.
- Build crates based on technical drawings and CAD files.
- Ensure crates meet specifications, with focus on material selection and quality control.
- Support Lead Crate Builder when needed, including during absences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and execute technical drawings.
- Assemble crates with precise adherence to design specs.
- Ensure technical accuracy and material suitability.
- Provide guidance and problem-solving during crate builds.
- Oversee material selection and project timelines.
Key Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years in packaging, crating, or carpentry.
- Strong expertise in interpreting technical drawings and CAD files.
- Experience in high-quality crate construction for fragile or valuable items.
- Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and problem-solving.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
Desirable (not essential):
- Training in packaging or carpentry.
- Knowledge of international shipping.
- Background in quality control or process improvement.
