Job Title: Packaging Technician Freight Industry

Location: Newport, Wales (NP19)

Hours: 37.5hrs Mon-Fri (08:30 16:30), OT available

Reports to: Site Manager

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Role Overview:

  • Collaborate with Lead Crate Builder and Packer.
  • Build crates based on technical drawings and CAD files.
  • Ensure crates meet specifications, with focus on material selection and quality control.
  • Support Lead Crate Builder when needed, including during absences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and execute technical drawings.
  • Assemble crates with precise adherence to design specs.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and material suitability.
  • Provide guidance and problem-solving during crate builds.
  • Oversee material selection and project timelines.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years in packaging, crating, or carpentry.
  • Strong expertise in interpreting technical drawings and CAD files.
  • Experience in high-quality crate construction for fragile or valuable items.
  • Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Desirable (not essential):

  • Training in packaging or carpentry.
  • Knowledge of international shipping.
  • Background in quality control or process improvement.
