Payroll Associate

Location: Newport

Position: Permanent, full time

Salary -  Negotiable

Due to continued growth, our client are seeking a talented Payroll Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment and contribute to the success of a growing practice.

The Position:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, and monthly payrolls for a variety of clients using Sage Payroll.
  • Managing Bacs payments and submitting HMRC returns.
  • Uploading pension data to pension providers.
  • Completing year-end submissions.
  • Handling client payroll queries.
  • Providing holiday cover for the Payroll Manager.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing within an accountancy practice.
  • Proven experience in running multiple client payrolls in a bureau environment.
  • Proficiency in Sage Payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • A proactive and problem-solving approach.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with other payroll software (e.g., Xero).
  • Presentation skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
