Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to oversee all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects of a 400M data centre construction project in Newport. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with UK health and safety regulations, implementing best practices, and fostering a strong safety culture across the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project-specific health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Monitor and enforce health and safety standards across all contractors and subcontractors.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, ensuring proper reporting and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with project managers, site teams, and external regulatory bodies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure fire safety, emergency preparedness, and environmental compliance are in place throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership role on major construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations, ISO 45001, and HSE best practices
  • Experience in data centres, critical infrastructure, or high-tech construction is preferred
