Main Objectives: In this role, you will manage daily purchasing activities for multiple categories at a strategic level. You will provide guidance and direction to internal stakeholders and liaise with business owners and supplier representatives, primarily for German sites (but not limited to). Your goal is to enable the business to procure third-party goods and services cost-effectively and professionally while mitigating financial and commercial risks. This is a hybrid working model (office/remote) with 50% travel to German sites. The other 50% of the time you will be working remotely, with the occasional trip to their HQ in Newport.

Responsibilities:

Sourcing & Processes:

  • Act as the Indirect Procurement Guidelines and Process Owner for your region.
  • Lead/support strategic sourcing activities as needed.
  • Facilitate RFX, supplier selection, and negotiation processes.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and finalize contracts with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the legal department to ensure contracts and terms are compliant.

Supplier Management:

  • Develop and manage supplier relationships, integrating supplier expertise to meet business strategy.
  • Continuously scout for additional suppliers for bottleneck segments or where dual sourcing is needed.
  • Monitor supplier performance, set KPIs, and address underperformance.
  • Conduct regular reviews for strategic or key suppliers across the region.

Costs, TCO & Savings:

  • Develop cost-effective strategies for your region.
  • Evaluate spending and seek ways to improve product quality and delivery timeliness.
  • Execute saving activities.
  • Conduct cost analyses and set benchmarks for improvement.

Other:

  • Handle critical issues and support the business in navigating through them.
  • Continuously expand understanding of current and potential suppliers.
  • Interact with Accounts Payable for payment or other vendor-related issues.
  • Stay updated on local laws and compliance.
  • Support the Contract Manager.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Native-level German, high proficiency in English (required), and an additional European language (nice to have).
  • Extensive experience in multi-category, indirect procurement including Capex/Construction categories
  • Experience working in a multi-functional and multi-national environment.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Prioritize work to provide efficient service.
  • Ownership of the entire procurement process from A-Z.
  • Experience with SAP is an advantage.
