About the company

My client are a reinforced concrete subcontractor specialist with over 20 years of experience, delivering a diverse range of construction projects including concrete frames, bridge structures, retaining walls and radius tanks.

They have also completed projects for the water treatment industry, large blast walls for the munitions industry, energy from waste plants and flood defences that actively protect the environment.

About the role

They are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is commercially smart to be based in Newport. You will need experience in Steel Reinforcement such as projects like high rise, bridges , civils etc. You will be required to also lead a small group along with the other 2 Quantity Surveyors in the company currently as well as the director.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies.
  • Manage procurement processes, including tendering and contractor selection.
  • Monitor project costs and expenditures and prepare financial reports.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Value completed work and arrange payments to contractors.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and attend project meetings.
  • Resolve contractual disputes and manage claims.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and mentor junior quantity surveyors and team members.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance efficiency.

Requirements

- Experience in anything to do with Steel Reinforcement

- Strong experience as a Quantity Surveyor

- Take offs- Minimal estimating knowledge

- CSCS

Benefits

- £60,000-£75,000 depending on experience
