- Provide one-to-one and group support for students with ASD to ensure they can access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies.
- Help manage classroom behavior, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage and support the social development of students, helping them to build friendships and engage with peers.
- Provide assistance with personal care, where required, ensuring students' well-being and safety at all times.
- Work closely with the teaching staff to monitor students' progress and provide feedback on their academic and social development.
- Support students during breaks, transitions, and off-site activities, maintaining supervision and ensuring their safety.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings to enhance knowledge and skills in working with students with ASD.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for each student.
- Contribute to the overall ethos of the school and promote its values in everyday practice.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable, though not essential.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with learning difficulties and helping them reach their full potential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a proactive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential.
- An understanding of ASD and the specific needs of students with autism is beneficial.
