About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Education Support Specialist who is trained in ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) and ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting students' emotional well-being and helping them thrive in a learning environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing tailored emotional and behavioural support to students, ensuring their academic and personal success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one or small group emotional literacy support sessions based on the ELSA framework.
- Provide interventions for students who have experienced trauma or adversity, utilizing knowledge of ACEs to offer empathetic support and build resilience.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to create individualized support plans for students with emotional or behavioral needs.
- Foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes emotional regulation, self-awareness, and social skills.
- Monitor and track student progress, adjusting support strategies as needed to ensure positive outcomes.
- Provide guidance to staff on how to recognize and address emotional or behavioral challenges effectively.
- Organize and facilitate group sessions or workshops focused on emotional well-being, self-esteem, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain confidential records and provide regular reports on students' emotional development and progress.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) trained (or working toward certification).
- ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) training and understanding of its impact on learning and behavior.
- Team Teach trained- desirable but not essential, we can support with this.
- Experience in a school or educational setting, ideally supporting students with emotional or behavioral needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental while working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of child development and the ability to identify early signs of emotional or behavioral difficulties.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A passion for making a positive impact on students' emotional well-being and academic success.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications or training in mental health, counseling, or related fields.
- Experience with other well-being frameworks or initiatives (e.g., mindfulness, restorative practices).
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
