Construction Manager (MEP)Contract - 18 month contract (plus) Pay £350 - £365 Per Day A reputable MEP contractor is looking for an experienced MEP Construction Manager to join their team on a commercial project for at least a 18 month contract (plus) on the north coast of Cornwall. Responsible for the delivery of the Mechanical construction elements of the works in particular programme, quality and safety(HSE), reporting directly to the Project Manager/Director. This position is a senior role and a key part of the project delivery team.Duties:- 
  • Ensure the work is constructed to meet Authority requirements and Contractors proposals;
  • Completion and    monitoring   of       the     companies procedural documentation;
  • Formulating, developing, and checking construction programmes and monitoring progress against these. Able to review and action non conformities to programme and take action to rectify/mitigate.
  • Able to develop and integrate short-term programmes which drive the project and meet or exceed main programme;
  • Coordination of contractors operations at preconstruction and construction stage;
  • Proactively support and engage with the commercial and design teams;
  • Keep Project Manager fully informed at all times;
  • Ensure health & safety risk is eliminated or reduced in construction, ensure that the company safety systems are set up, implemented, and reviewed at all stages;
  • Pro-active behavioural safety to be promoted and managed on site;
  • Set up, implement and monitor quality and environmental systems;
  • Review all design for buildability and long term durability;
  • Support the projects CSR BREEAM/DREAM process and submission;
  • Leading the construction team; including mentoring of those working in the team, driving good behaviours for the success of the project;
  • To support and be familiar with own role and responsibility in respect of Business Continuity Planning. Ensuring that team members are also aware of the plans and communicates same.
  • Able to fully understand and manage programme on a number of different levels and ideally have working knowledge of ASTA Teamplan;
  • Experience in the safe and timely delivery of large scale (£50m plus) D&B projects as the construction manager;
  • Experience in delivery of high quality projects;
  • Good knowledge of building and MEP construction techniques and methodology;
  • An understanding of the design and procurement process and of contractual matters;
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel & PowerPoint;
  • Up to date on Safety legislation and the implementation of such legislation;
  • BREEAM/Sustainability/Environment knowledge and experience;
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence for regular national travel;
  • • Hold CSCS card; ideally Black Card
  • SMSTS qualification. 
  • SC and DV security clearance required
  • MEP qualifications 
  • Technical construction knowledge and commercial appreciation;
  • Ability to supervise others to achieve tight deadlines;
  • Ability to manage, mentor and lead the team AND individual members of the construction team;
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
