Isca Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a commercially astute, accountant to join a rapidly growing SME business as the Financial Controller.
This is a highly visible position as part of the senior leadership team, providing financial insight and control to the business. Reporting to the CFO, this is a hands-on Financial Controller role with full responsibility for the finance function including management and development of a small team.
Financial Controller - Duties:
- Overseeing the day-to-day finance function: purchase and sales ledgers, credit control etc.
- Team management and development.
- Cash flow management, tracking costs monthly against budgets and flagging up trends
- Providing weekly financial and management information reports for senior management.
- Reviewing and finalising monthly management accounts, KPI’s, including commentary and variance analysis.
- Monthly management accounts, KPI’s, including commentary and variance analysis.
- Preparation of VAT returns, monthly payroll and pension.
- Identifying, implementing and ensuring effective financial controls, processes and systems
- Business partnering budget holders and management, working with production, buying, sales and operational teams.
- Responsible for budgeting and forecasting including budget analysis and review, working with management to ensure adherence to budget and company performance.
- Overseeing year end accounts processes and statutory accounts production
- Liaising with auditors and managing the annual audit process.
Financial Controller - The Rewards:
Salary: Up to c£70,000pa + benefits including car Hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week with flexible start/finish times. Location: On site, Newton AbbotContract: 3 months initially, potential for permanent employmentStart Date: ASAP
Financial Controller - The Person:
- This role will suit a proactive, commercially astute qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) seeking a varied hands on role, where you will take responsibility for the smooth running of the finance function.
- You’ll have experience in SME environments and a track record of management accounting, cashflow management and financial analysis.
- You will enjoy using your commercial skills - able to see the bigger picture and plan ahead whilst also being hands on to ensure the timely delivery of monthly reports.
- A natural problem-solver with excellent analytical skills you’ll be able to prioritise and meet deadlines in a growing business environment.
- You’ll be a first-rate communicator able to inspire, persuade and influence, with the ability to lead and positively manage and empower others to achieve.
- Strong IT skills with experience of Excel is essential and experience of systems implementations is advantageous.
- You will be a team player and enjoy working in a collaborative manner with colleagues at all levels in the business.
