We are looking for an electrician to join our team at our Heathfields (Newton Abbot) site.

As an Electrician, you will provide electrical support for all key fixed plant and equipment at Imerys Devon Ball Clays operations. You will maintain plant availability at high levels through planned routine maintenance and reaction to breakdowns.


The role responsibilities:You will carry out planned, scheduled routine and reactive maintenance including fault finding, diagnostics and rectification work, delivering an effective quality service in compliance with all current health, safety and environmental legislation and company Rules Guidance and Procedures ensuring availability of all equipment is at or greater than key performance indicator, including;


  • Planned and preventative maintenance of existing plant and some installation work.
  • Calibration, preventive, corrective breakdown work on instrumentation and control gear.
  • Work on Lighting and Low Voltage distribution equipment.
  • Routine preventive, corrective & breakdown maintenance of electrical systems including fault finding & diagnostic works.
  • Able to work on 3 phase Motors and Control Gear.
  • Complete health and safety documentation in line with company policy and procedures i.e. risk assessments; equipment specific procedures; permits to work etc.
  • Ensuring all work areas are clean and free from hazards.

What do we ask you in return?To satisfactorily complete assigned workload whilst adhering to safe working procedures and methods, working within health, safety and environmental legislation and company Rules Guidance. You will ideally have the following;


  • Recognised electrical and or multi-skilled indentured apprenticeship qualified to NVQ Level 3
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regs experience.
  • Experience in Electrical systems maintenance in an industrial operations environment.
  • Hold a current full driving licence
  • Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics (Identify skills/attributes required for this position which may include leadership, problem solving, interpersonal, communications, planning, team participation skills, and/or language requirements.
  • Awareness of PLC and Variable Speed Drives.
  • working knowledge of the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to undertake further training as and when required to include mechanical, instrumentation, control and process awareness.
  • Experience of Pneumatics and Hydraulics - desirable.
  • Mechanical Cross Skilling experience - desirable.
  • Mobile Plant / Light Vehicle experience - desirable.
