Design Engineer - Marine

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join a dynamic team. This role offers the chance to work on bespoke marine components, transforming specifications into detailed designs ready for manufacture. If you have a passion for delivering tailored engineering solutions and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Design and develop marine shaft line components and propellers.
  • Create detailed designs primarily in 2D, with some 3D CAD work under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Establish requirements with customers and collaborate closely with the Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Ensure designs meet both internal standards and external regulatory compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, with essential experience in AutoCAD and desirable experience in SolidWorks.
  • Proven experience providing technical solutions to design challenges.
  • Confidence in managing projects of varying size, timeframe, and complexity.
  • Experience in the design of components and assemblies, with a preference for those in the marine industry.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture and familiarity with the production environment.
  • Familiarity with design codes, classification rules, and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results under tight deadlines.
  • Strong mathematical and numerical skills.
  • Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey design information effectively.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Design Engineer, preferably in the marine industry.
