Housing Caseworker

We are seeking two experienced full-time Housing Caseworkers on behalf of our client for a three-month period, starting as soon as possible. This role is crucial in assisting individuals and families at risk of homelessness, helping them to retain their existing accommodation where possible or secure alternative housing solutions.

The successful candidates will have a strong background in housing casework, with experience in providing comprehensive advice, advocacy, and support to those facing housing difficulties. You will be responsible for assessing homelessness applications, developing and reviewing personalised housing plans, negotiating with landlords, and working closely with other agencies such as social services, legal representatives, and support organisations to prevent homelessness.

Key responsibilities include proactively intervening to prevent the loss of accommodation, offering tailored housing advice, accessing funding for housing support, and ensuring compliance with relevant housing legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will also be required to manage a caseload of clients, attend key meetings and hearings, and maintain accurate case records.

To be successful in this role, you will need excellent communication and negotiation skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and a commitment to providing high-quality customer service. A strong understanding of homelessness legislation, landlord-tenant law, welfare benefits, and housing-related support services is essential. You should be able to demonstrate experience in working with vulnerable individuals, assessing complex cases, and implementing effective solutions to prevent and relieve homelessness.

The role will initially be office-based for training, system familiarisation, and case handover, with the option to transition to hybrid working thereafter. If you have the necessary experience, a passion for helping people in challenging situations, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, we would love to hear from you.
