Job Description

RMS Recruitment is seeking a technician to join our client's leading manufacturing team based in Newton Aycliffe. Our client has a dynamic team that drives excellence in outdoor power tools and shapes the future of the industry.

Job Details:

  • Location: Newton Aycliffe
  • Position: Workshop Technician
  • Type: Permanent Position
  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday (8.30am-4.45pm)
  • Salary: £28-31k per annum

About the Role:

As a Workshop Technician, you will provide mechanical technical support and training within the company, ensuring smooth operations across multiple departments. Your primary responsibilities will involve maintaining small engines and electronic equipment. While the role is predominantly office-based, occasional travel may be required. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, as this position interacts with various areas of the business. You will also provide technical advice and support via phone and email to service dealer networks and end customers, ensuring accurate record-keeping throughout the process.

  • Support the Aftersales Manager, Workshop Supervisor and the Aftersales Team in all aspects of after sales support for the UK business.
  • Provide technical support on the help desk for dealers.
  • Answer end customer questions via email and telephone.
  • Evaluate and repair machines that have been returned to the workshop.
  • Re-working bonded products when required.
  • Develop technical support systems for product training.
  • Communicate to the Sales Teams on categories regarding any technical issues and status.
  • Warranty administration.

About You:

  • The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience in a relevant industry and be fully competent in the repair/servicing of small engines and electronic equipment.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to clearly explain technical issues to clients.
  • The ideal candidate will write comprehensive reports.
  • The ideal candidate will be qualified to at least GCSE/A-Level or equivalent in Maths, Physics or another Engineering discipline.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, good grammar and be PC literate, holding good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office applications.
  • A clean, current driving license is required.
