Mechanical Design Engineer - County Durham

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000

Location: Newton Aycliffe

Permanent, Monday - Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer with 4 years of experience to join a leading UK-based company renowned for its design and installation of conveyor systems.

In this role, you will design and develop conveyor systems, producing technical documentation and ensuring compliance with specified briefs and industry standards.

You will be responsible for:

  • Create 3D models and technical drawings in line with company CAD standards.
  • Generate and manage technical documentation, including drawings and bills of materials.
  • Perform peer reviews of technical documents and designs.
  • Ensure designs meet project briefs, relevant standards, and regulations.
  • Conduct technical analysis to enhance system functionality and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).
  • Carry out site visits to support project delivery.

What we are looking for:

  • Previously worked as aMechanical Design Engineer or in a similar role.
  • At least 4 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting standards and technical drawings.
  • Understanding of the design process and its documentation.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and mechanical design principles.
  • Skilled in 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
  • Awareness of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).
  • Relevant qualification in design or engineering (HNC, degree, etc.).
