Production Assistant (Garvagh, Co Londonderry/Derry)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Assistant to join a leading organisation based in Garvagh, Co Londonderry/Derry.

Full-Time and Part-Time, Permanent Positions (availability of 8 to 37.5 hours per week, working within Monday to Sunday 5am – 8pm. With a degree of flexibility required).

With a pay rate of £10.01 - £12.20 per hour (dependent on age due to national living).

Job Role:

Working within a fast-paced kitchen, you will be responsible for assisting with the movement, storage and rotation of goods in and out of the Kitchen, pack freshly cooked products to preserve them, protect them during preparation and give them an identifiable and desirable appearance for display in store and ensure all goods are correctly labelled and recorded.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience of working in a catering and/or hospitality kitchen environment.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working in a Fresh Food Production Kitchen.
  • Previous Supervisory Experience.
  • Previous Experience working to budgets and/or targets.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive goods-in ensuring all legislative requirements, quality specification and shelf life of products is adhered to.
  • Ensure effective stock rotation practices are in place to use older products first and reduce wastage.
  • Assist the Chef & Cook in the preparation of ingredients as required.
  • Assist with stock control procedures and ordering.
  • Keep the machines and production areas clean and tidy.
  • Ensure all packaging and other items are stored correctly.
  • Accurately record any damages or wastage.
  • Prepare, clean, adjust and maintain printing equipment.
  • Ensure accurate information is printed on the label (use by date, price, etc.) and they are produced to a high standard and in line with food labelling regulations.
  • Ensure enough labels are printed to cover the production planned for the day.
  • Any other duties as required for the role.
