Cammach are currently recruiting for a Paint & Blast Snr Superintendent to start as soon as possible for a client in Nigg (North of Scotland)

This will be 3 months through agency with a view to going permanent after this period. Will only suit those looking for a long-term staff position so ideal for those within commuting distance.

ROLE

Oversee the daily operational activities within the P&B department ensuring that safety, quality and production are maintained in line with company specified requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all Blasters and sprayers are compliant with the relative project specification procedures & quality plans
  • Review and select the correct application systems for the coatings being applied
  • Monitor painting applications in order to identify flaws such as blisters, runs/sags and streaks so that their causes can be corrected
  • Oversee blaster / painter personnel preparation to ensure that the correct preparation is carried out prior to paint application ensuring that surface contamination & environmental tests are carried out
  • Verify paint consistency prior to application (use a viscosity meter where applicable)
  • Establish a good working relationship with Supervisors and Colleagues to ensure effective performance of assigned tasks
  • Ensure all department personnel are working in a safe manner and working under a PTW system where required 
  • Ensure that all plant and equipment in the facility is inspected, certified and appropriate for the task
  • Proactive in maintaining good housekeeping standards in the work area, along with reporting and addressing any safety & environmental hazards identified during the shift 
  • Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner
  • Assist in reviewing and amending Risk Assessments, safety inspections & incident & accident investigations as required
  • Ensuring effective completion of relevant paperwork and reporting procedures

REQUIREMENTS

Skills

  • Monitoring and assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Coordination and allocation of works ensuring suitably qualified & experienced resource is available to complete the works safely

Preferred Qualifications and Experience 

  • 5 years relevant experience in a similar role within the fabrication / engineering industry
  • Industry recognised training/qualification for coating application and inspection such as i.e. ICATS, NACE, SSPC & ICOR or similar
