Wise Employment are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work for an “Employer of Choice” fantastic company within a well-established and highly reputable company within Peterborough. This is a permanent, site based role working full time Monday to Friday.

Purpose of the role: This role of Quantity Surveyor will see you responsible for managing costs relating to projects. You will minimise the costs of a project and enhance margin and value for money, whilst still achieving the necessary standards and quality. This will involve also, procurement and subcontract management.
Job description:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for;
- Working closely with departments including; Land, Development and Construction, you will attend design meetings to advise on all areas that have a cost implication.
- Once contract documentation has been received, you will check all contract drawings to identify errors, omissions, anomalies and areas where unnecessary cost could arise.
- Receiving initial tender information and assist in preparing proposed tender lists
- Distributing design information packages and tender drawings and work closely with the subcontract buyer throughout the tender process.
- Checking and arranging subcontractor payments, obtaining necessary authorisation for passing payments for all elements of subcontractor works
- Attend site meetings, project team meetings, subcontractor meetings and surveying meetings as and when required.
Person specification
- HNC in Surveying or Construction or equivalent is essential
- Experience of working within the construction industry for a residential housing developer or main contractor is required
- HND or higher qualification is preferred
- Professional membership of MCIOB or RICS preferred or working towards such qualification
- National House builder experience is required
- Knowledge of different methods of construction i.e Timber Frame
- Strong mathematical skills and excellent IT and analytical skills
- Skilled in budget management, negotiating and networking
- COINS user experience is preferred
