Children's Social Worker - Wakefield Metropolitan District Council

About the Role:

As a Children's Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and families. You will be responsible for:

  • Managing a caseload of children and families in need of support.
  • Conducting assessments and investigations, including Section 47 enquiries.
  • Developing and implementing care plans.
  • Working collaboratively with partner agencies, including schools, health services, and the police.
  • Attending court and representing the Local Authority.
  • Providing advice and support to families.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

About You:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with children and families.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, including the Children Act 1989.
  • Excellent assessment and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).
