Shifts:4 on, 3 off (Monday - Thursday) - days and nights alternating
Hours per week:40 hours per week with opportunity for overtime
Rates:19.39 PAYE/24.67 Umbrella

This is a varied role and the successful applicant will be able to work under his or her own initiative as well as working as part of a team. The remit of this challenging role is to carry out routine maintenance; repair and fault-finding work on rail vehicles, plant, lifting and handling equipment, buildings and facilities as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Routine rail vehicle maintenance as per the Vehicle Maintenance Instruction (VMI)
* Heavy Maintenance component changes (engines, cooler groups, couplers, wheelsets)
* Fleet defect clearance.
* Operation of powered equipment, lifting and mechanical handling equipment
* Assist Technicians as required
* Maintenance of plant.
* Compliance with all laid down H&S legislation and depot procedures to ensure a safe accident free environment.
* Responsible for keeping the work area clean and tidy and to the highest standard at all times.
* Required to continually look at opportunities to adopt and develop continuous improvement techniques. Knowledge and experience
Requirements & skills
* Ideally City & Guilds qualified, candidates must be mechanically and electrically proficient with a basic understanding of the vehicles and plant being maintained.
* Level 3 NVQ
* Fully literate and numerate, and preferably computer literate.
* Detailed understanding of Class 180
* Competent to undertake Safety Critical Work.
* Personal Track Safety (PTS)
* Designated Person (where appropriate)
* This position involves shift working which includes nights and weekends
