Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Contracts Administrator to join our architecture practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract administration within an architectural setting, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex contracts and client relationships effectively. This could be a dedicated CA or an architect or technician with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and Managing Contracts: Prepare and manage JCT contracts (or similar) for architectural projects, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
  • Payment Management: Oversee the management of staged payments and valuations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments from contractors.
  • Change Order Management: Handle and process change orders from contractors, assessing the impact on project scope and budget.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Quantity Surveyor (QS) to ensure financial control and cost management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaison and Coordination: Act as the main point of contact between the architectural team, contractors, relevant authorities, and clients to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Site Visits and Reporting: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, prepare detailed site reports, and address any contractual or compliance issues.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain up-to-date project documentation and ensure compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements.

Desirable Skills:

  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to draft or update project details using AutoCAD or Revit (preferred but not essential).
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage stakeholder expectations and resolve disputes.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and contractual agreements.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to handle complex project scenarios and make informed decisions under pressure.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Administrator within an architectural or construction setting.
  • Familiarity with JCT contracts or similar forms of agreement.
  • Experience in managing staged payments, change orders, and liaising with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and an understanding of the architectural process.
  • Educational Background: Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
