The Heygate Group is a well-established family company, employing over 1400 staff, with its head office located in Bugbrooke, Northampton. We are now seeking an experienced Accountant to join their 15-strong accounts team.Heygates mill thousands of tons of British wheat every year across four sites. Over 80 grades of flour are produced, catering to a wide range of products including breads, cakes, pizzas, burger buns, chapattis, biscuits, and more. Their products are supplied to large manufacturing plants, in-store supermarket bakeries, and craft bakers, with deliveries made 24/7.A family business with a long history of farming in Northamptonshire, it transitioned into milling in the 19th century.Today, Heygates is steeped in history and traditional values, while operating as a modern 21st-century business. The company remains passionately committed to the British milling industry, consistently supplying high-quality products to its customersThe team is friendly, knowledgeable, and has long tenures across the business.The Role:Are you ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualified (or equivalent). Alternatively, are you qualified by experience?Can you independently produce a full set of monthly accounts, as well as management accounts and reports for senior management?In this role, you will be supporting and deputising for the Senior Accountant.The successful candidate will adopt a collaborative and proactive mindset with a hands-on attitude, as this is essential when working within a close-knit team.You will be responsible for supporting and guiding the finance team, helping to ensure smooth operations.Duties and Responsibilities:• Preparing and presenting management accounts• Produce the Profit & Loss account for the largest subsidiary within the Heygates Group (Subsidiary turnover approx. £250m)• Performing Balance Sheet reconciliations• Conducting financial analysis to provide key insights for decision-making• Supporting quarter-end reporting and ensuring timely completion• Managing VAT returns and ensuring tax compliance• Supporting unique projects, such as the implementation of a new fixed asset system• Reviewing existing processes and making recommendations for improvements• Preparing detailed financial and management reports• Coding and processing invoices• Approving payment runs• Providing system support and troubleshooting• Assisting other departments with financial support & guidance • Preparing National Statistics reportsThe person:To be successful in this role you must be:• Experienced in independently producing a full set of accounts• Highly skilled in accounting principles and practices• Proactive, with a can-do attitude and a solutions-focused mindset• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy• Organised and structured in your approach to work• Proficient in ExcelBenefits:• Contributory pension• 24 days holiday + public holidays• Free on-site parkingThis is a Warner Exclusive role which means it is retained with Warner Recruitment Ltd.If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact Julie or Karen at Warner Recruitment.
