Financial Accountant

12-Month FTCLocation: NorthamptonHybrid working available

As a Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory financial requirements. You'll be responsible for preparing and submitting statutory financial statements, supporting audits, and ensuring adherence to UK GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations. You'll take ownership of month-end consolidation, and support with group reporting and cashflow preparation. Working closely with internal teams and external auditors, you'll help maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reporting.

What you'll do:

  • Preparing and submitting statutory financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Liaising with external auditors to facilitate annual audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with UK statutory and regulatory requirements, including Companies House filings and HMRC submissions.
  • Assisting with corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and other statutory filings.
  • Supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting, including month-end consolidation, cashflow reporting and group reporting.
  • Providing technical guidance on accounting and financial reporting matters.
  • Assisting in the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and tax reporting.
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external consultants.

What you'll need

  • Qualified / newly qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Proven experience in statutory accounting within a group of companies, preferably in the UK.
  • Experience with month-end consolidation, cash flow reporting, and group reporting.
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and UK taxation requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork.
