Your new companyOur client is a well-established and highly reputable business that serves the UK food and hospitality industry.Your new roleDue to a retirement and internal promotion, an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified Assistant Accountant to join the team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be involved in the preparation of weekly accounts and monthly management accounts to strict deadlines. You would be working as part of a collaborative and supportive team that manages the account's production for multiple divisions. Responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of weekly management accounts with KPI's and supporting information
- Ensuring Weekly stocktakes are correct and any discrepancies addressed.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Variance analysis of weekly accounts v monthly accounts v budgets
- Bank reconciliations
- Weekly / Monthly Payroll Analysis and Journals
- Calculation and scheduling of accruals and prepayments
- Maintaining FA Register (Additions/Disposals/Interco)
- Capital Expenditure Reporting
- Calculating Month End Rebates and Discounts Accruals, ensuring rates accrued are correct and approving supplier invoices.
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances as required
- Support finance team in preparation of annual budgets / forecasts
- Support to Purchase Ledger/Credit Control Team assisting queries
- Internal audits of sites to maintain/strengthen controls
- Assisting with Year End Audit (KPMG Auditors)
- Producing supporting information for taxation computation
What you'll need to succeedThe right person for this position will be part-qualified ACCA / CIMA with broad accounting experience in management and financial reporting. Strong Excel skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure. Personal qualities required include strong interpersonal and communication skills, a positive and enthusiastic attitude and good attention to detail.
