We are delighted to be working exclusively with our client based in Northampton, who are seeking an Accounts Assistant to provide additional support within their finance team.

This is a 6-month fixed-term contract, ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has experience within a finance department, and thrives as part of a small, friendly team. It is easily accessible by public transport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing purchase orders, invoices, and credit notes.
  • Reviewing and issuing sales invoices, with some credit control activities.
  • Preparing BACS payment runs.
  • Handling cash transactions and banking imports.
  • Supporting with daily bank reconciliations.
  • Inputting payroll data and assisting with a system migration.
  • Providing holiday and sickness cover within the team.
  • Assisting with month-end processes, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Supporting financial reporting, audits, and contract settlements.

The Candidate:

You will have previous experience working in an accounting role, with a strong understanding of sales and purchase ledger processes. A keen eye for detail, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently are essential. You should be comfortable working independently as well as being a proactive and supportive member of a small team. Strong communication skills and a friendly, adaptable approach will ensure you fit in well with this welcoming and collaborative working environment.

Remuneration

  • Salary: £negotiable per annum pro-rata, depending on experience
  • Hours: 25-30 hours per week - Office-based
  • Holidays: 23 days plus statutory days - pro-rata, pension, staff discounts
