Marketing Manager
Overview of Job
The Marketing Manager has three main objectives within the role:
- To manage and develop the company’s reputation and profile within the industry
- To plan the promotion of the company’s products, brands and services in order to help them grow
- To provide support to the sales team to help grow the value of their customer portfolios
Duties and Responsibilities

- Social Media Executive (full-time)
- Marketing and Ops Coordinator (part-time)
Duties
- Organise the corporate quarterly on-hold telephone messaging
- Organise national exhibitions
- Organise own-brand product photography, including lifestyle and pack shots, write creative briefs and art direct the shoots
- Issue product photography to customers in line with their own specifications
- Write the copy, design and send direct mail shots to existing customers using our internal CRM system
- Develop material for the sales team, write the design brief, proof and issue
- Develop the corporate PR plan and approve content prior to issue
- Develop corporate and product trade press adverts, liaise with publishers to book space, negotiate rates, write the design briefs, proof, issue
- Develop customer trade press adverts as booked by the sales team, write the design briefs, proof, issue
- Maintain and develop corporate stationary, write design briefs, proof and order, also create and upload corporate digital stationary headers and footers
- Approve own-brand product specifications, write marketing descriptions and upload product images
- Develop and coordinate own-brand packaging and labels, write the creative brief, proof and progress with suppliers
- Involvement in NPD based on up-to-date knowledge of market trends / competitor activity
- Coordinate with staff internally and externally to achieve goals
- Work with external agencies for support with services such as design, telephone messaging and PR
- Develop any other brand messaging and marketing material as and when required
- Evaluate and improve marketing campaigns with solutions that fit within budget
- Communicate with senior management about existing and new marketing activities
- Keep the Directors fully informed at all times on all key issues affecting either the job holder’s workload or that impact on others within the business
General IT Skills
Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, Goldmine database internal software systems
Requirements of the Role
A key requirement of the role is the ability to be proactive and self-motivated whilst at the same time managing the Social Media Executive and Marketing and Ops Coordinator.
The job holder will clearly need to work closely across all functions within the business and with the entire team to achieve deadlines.
From time to time the job holder may be required to stay away from home to fulfil duties and appointments. Occasional weekend work may be required (rarely).
Being a small business the duties may vary from time to time to assist others within the organisation.
Job holder must:
- Promote the aims and strive to achieve the objectives of the Company
- Act in a professional manner towards customers, staff, colleagues, and external contacts
- Ensure that business is conducted in a professional, profitable, and timely manner
- Liaise with all members of staff, as required, to ensure the proper and efficient running of the Company
- Pass on knowledge which may have a negative impact on the Company, be it commercial, operational or financial, at the earliest opportunity
Experience
- Ideally educated to degree level
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role (wholesale marketing function)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Team player
- Ability to think both strategically and commercially with a good understanding of overall business dynamics
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Creativity and an artistic eye
Job Type / Hours:
Full-time, permanent, office-based in Northampton
Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm plus hours as needed to fulfil the duties of the role, which may include after hours in the evening or over weekends (rarely)
