The role Civil Engineering Estimator

The Role:

  • Working alongside the Commercial team, you will ensure all relevant information has been considered for each tender and determine how much it will cost to meet the needs of their clients, having regard for safety, quality, and profitability.
  • Key Duties & Accountabilities:
  • Administration and management of booking in tenders and accurately logging into the shared tender list system in a timely manner.
  • Efficient communication with clients, making initial contact to confirm accept or decline of a tender.
  • Obtain quotes for all predicted requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in producing take-offs and cost database for analysis by others.
  • Calculate the cost of materials, transport, labour and plant hire.
  • Understand and clarify the clients requirements and offer value engineering for discussion with the management team.
  • Undergo regular site visits to understand the process/ timings and sciences of estimating including the realisation of the labour/ plant and material aspect of any given construction process.
  • Making visits to proposed construction sites.
  • Presenting bids to clients/ answering questions.

Requirements:

  • GCSE Minimum 7 A-C / 5-9 including maths and English.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Trainee / Assistant Estimator or Quantity Surveyor.
  • Ability to produce various cost value reports/ skillfully read information and make decisions.
  • Excellent PC skills in particular in excel.
  • Strong mathematical ability.
  • Effective communicator (written and verbal).
  • Identify & resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
