A forward-thinking engineering consultancy is currently recruiting for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their ground and environmental team in Northamptonshire. This full-time, permanent position involves working on diverse ground investigation and environmental assessment projects across the UK, with a strong mix of both fieldwork and office-based responsibilities.

The successful candidate will have the chance to grow their technical skills within a collaborative team that supports projects in residential, industrial, and infrastructure development sectors.

Position Overview

  • Take an active role in planning and executing ground investigation works, including sampling and onsite data collection
  • Log and assess geological materials in accordance with current best practices
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors during field operations
  • Assist in compiling technical reports including contamination assessments, interpretive findings, and desk-based studies
  • Travel to project sites (predominantly within a two-hour radius), with occasional overnight stays when required
  • Support senior engineering staff on project documentation, safety procedures, and client communications

Candidate Requirements

  • Holds a relevant degree in Earth Sciences, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Has at least 2 years of relevant industry experience in geotechnical or environmental fieldwork and reporting
  • Familiar with soil and rock logging, environmental sampling, and lab scheduling
  • Excellent written communication skills, especially in preparing technical documents
  • Competent with standard office software; exposure to logging or GIS platforms is an advantage
  • Must have a valid UK driving licence and be willing to travel as part of the role
  • Adaptable, practical, and capable of working in outdoor environments throughout the year

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range: £30,000 - £36,000, depending on experience
