Are you a qualified Building Safety Regulator (BSR) professional looking for an exciting and challenging role? A council in Northamptonshire is seeking a dedicated and experienced Building Control Manager to join our team.
Job Purpose: The Building Control Manager will be responsible for legislative compliance, budget management, procedural oversight, and the overall performance of the Building Control service. This role includes ensuring compliance with operational standards set by the BSR and managing cost recovery through commercial activities.
Key Responsibilities:
·Management & Compliance:
oOversee the Building Control service and budget, ensuring compliance with BSR standards, LABC Quality Management Systems, and relevant legislation.
oEnsure key performance indicators and statistical information are provided accurately and timely.
oRecruit, manage, develop, and ensure the wellbeing of staff within the service.
·Technical & Operational Oversight:
oSupervise and provide technical support to building inspectors, ensuring only registered competent individuals undertake restricted activities.
oManage and review allocated budget, ensuring cost recovery through competitive fee setting.
oEnsure compliance with the Party Wall Act and the Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010.
·Performance & Customer Service:
oContinuously monitor and report on performance against agreed targets.
oDevelop and implement a performance framework for measurable customer improvements.
oEnsure all customer feedback is managed according to Corporate and Directorate procedures.
·Stakeholder Engagement & Health & Safety:
oLiaise with internal directorates, external partners, and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
oEnsure compliance with all Health and Safety legislation and Council policies.
oUndertake site inspections for dangerous structures and out-of-hours work as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
·Must be qualified with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).
·Proven experience in managing Building Control services, budget management, and legislative compliance.
·Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
·Current driving licence required.
·Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and respond to emergencies.
