AboutMRG is seeking an Interim Building Surveyor (Fire Risk Assessment FRA) for a public sector housing organisation in Northamptonshire.

About the roleAn experienced Building Surveyor is required to manage fire risk assessment (FRA) remedial works across a large social housing property portfolioThe role involves ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, overseeing contractors, and delivering high-quality remedial works that enhance resident safetyEnsuring works are completed and evidenced to meet the relevant fire safety certification scheme for example FIRAS, Certificate etcContract Management of the supply chain under a JCT MT contractReview and interpret fire risk assessments to identify necessary remedial worksEnsure all works comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Building Safety Act 2022, and relevant British StandardsDevelop and implement work programmes for FRA remedial actions, ensuring adherence to budgets and deadlinesAppoint and manage contractors, ensuring quality control and contract complianceConduct site inspections and audits to monitor progress and adherence to fire safety standards and remedy FRA actionsLiaise with fire safety officers, asset management teams, housing officers, and residents to ensure smooth project deliveryTo undertake contractual claim negotiations valuations and to negotiate variations as necessary

ExperienceAvailable to start immediatelyHappy to travel to site as requiredDegree in Building Surveying, Fire Safety, or a related disciplineFire safety-related qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Fire Risk Assessment, NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate) are highly desirableMembership of the Institute of Fire Engineers or similar body (or working towards)Chartered membership of RICS or CIOB (or working towards)Excellent technical ability, with good knowledge of the appropriate quality standards, building regulations and planning requirements, specifically related to disrepair and FRA obligationsSignificant experience managing fire safety remedial works in social housing or a similar environment with an understanding of fire risk assessments and their practical application
