Omega are supporting a world-renowned automotive company in their search for CNC 5-Axis Setter Operator to work on the double day shift and help ensure that all parts are produced to the highest standard in line with specifications while also minimise production downtime.

In this role, the CNC 5 Axis Setter Operator will be to run multiple 5 Axis machines to manufacture pistons for sports super/hyper car manufacturers. In addition, you will set & operate other machines as part of the piston manufacturing process, as well as read and edit programs as required to perform operations. Quality control is essential, requiring the use of various measurement equipment to conduct thorough checks. You will also be responsible for inspecting and maintaining machinery, tooling and equipment to ensure parts meet specifications to minimize production downtime.

 

Key Responsibilities – CNC 5-Axis Setter Operator

  • Set and operate multiple DMG machines in the piston department.
  • Perform manual manufacturing operations.
  • Manufacture/modify pistons to support internal/external engine development programs.
  • Be able to use measuring equipment to ensure component compliance.
  • Mentor and instruct junior employees & apprentices to perform manufacturing operations.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and suggest improvements regarding methods, processes, and tooling.
  • Fulfil any other reasonable requirement consistent with departmental objectives.

 

Qualifications & Requirements – CNC 5-Axis Setter Operator

  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate technical information.
  • Be conversant with machine code; Heidenhain 530I & 640 preferred
  • Ability to use Fanuc based machines. This includes Hitachi, Seiki and Matsuura (advantageous but not essential).
  • Ability to problem solve and see errors in NC code.
  • Basic numerical and computer skills.
  • Effective communicator both verbal and written.
  • Committed and enthusiastic.
  • Automotive engineering experience/background.
