Location: Northampton

Job Description:

The duties of the grinder will be to manufacture camshafts, crankshafts, tooling and a variety of other engine components for super/hyper car manufacturers. Set & operate CNC and manual grinding machines, select and mount appropriate cutting tools required for the operations.

Perform quality control checks using a variety of measurement equipment. Inspect and maintain machinery, tooling and equipment to ensure parts produced conform to specification and minimize production downtime.

The Role:

  • Set and operate CNC grinding machines (Junker & Kellenburger). Training provided.
  • Be able to set and operate manual grinding machines (cylindrical & surface).
  • Manufacture/modify cams, cranks to support internal/external engine development programs along with any other component that needs a grinding process.
  • Be able to use measuring equipment to ensure component compliance, (gauges, CMM's Adcole).
  • Perform basic TPM on all equipment including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Be active with the introduction of new equipment and process changes.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and suggest improvements regarding methods, processes, and tooling.

Candidate Profile:

  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate technical information.
  • Have knowledge of multiple grinding methods
  • Be experienced with work holding methods.
  • Be conversant with machine code and have the ability to problem solve.
  • Knowledge of tool setting, measuring equipment and wheel mounting/dressing.
  • Numerical and computer skills.
  • Effective communicator both verbal and written.
  • Automotive engineering experience/background.
