Are you an experienced health & safety professional with knowledge of highways or highways maintenance and seeking a new opportunity? I am currently working with a specialist highway maintenance business that is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join the team to work across multiple projects across the North, Midlands and parts of the Southeast region. The ideal candidate will be able to manage their own diary, happy to be home based with travel 2/3 days per week and have knowledge of highways legislation.

The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the team and wider contractors
  • Carry out site-based compliance and audits on a regular basis
  • Complete monthly reports for senior management, identifying any areas of concern and suggest improvement plans.
  • Sharing health & safety best practices across the business
  • Be the go for health & safety support, advice and guidance for site teams.
  • Lead on accident investigations and near misses to identify root causes and implement improvement plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and method statements for sites when required.
  • Promote a positive and proactive health & safety culture across all the business

The Health & Safety Manager will have:

  • 3 years of experience working in health & safety
  • Previously worked in highways sector with strong highways legislation knowledge
  • NEBOSH Certificate, ideally working towards Diploma level
  • Working knowledge of ISO management systems ISO 9001, 14001, 45001
  • Happy to travel for work an be home based
  • Driving license
