The Role
The Junior Database Administrator is responsible for supporting the Database Administrator (DBA) in ensuring the integrity, security, and availability of SQL Server databases within the organization. Including implementing and maintaining secure database solutions while optimizing performance and adhering to best practices.
The role will come with a lot support from fellow data professionals as well as have opportunities to develop and progress too.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Build and maintain database platforms of high availability, quality and security designs that align with business requirements and performance objectives.
- Design and implement databases in accordance with specification and requirements
- Minimise database downtime
- Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards in line with those defined by the Charity
- Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
- Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and archiving
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
- Manage user accounts and permissions.
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, data corruption, and errors.
- Provide technical support to application developers and end-users.
- Respond to database emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
- Implement high availability solutions, such as clustering or mirroring.
- Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Support data migration projects between different databases or systems.
About you
You will have experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, SAL 2012 or 2019, SSRS and PowerBI in a working environment or during your study and degree and have a real passion for working with and maintaining databases. Experience with cloud-based database platforms like Azure, SQL Database. You will be passionate and enthusiastic and maintaining databases and keen to learn and develop the skills and knowledge you already have.
