Job Opportunity: Assistant Finance Manager

The Accountancy and Finance Division at The ONE Group is excited to be working for a growing and reputable business based in Northampton. Our client is seeking a Management Accountant / Assistant Finance Manager with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach. This role is key in maintaining their Nominal Ledger, managing cash flow, and supporting financial reporting, budget preparation, and audits. It's an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional ready to contribute to strategic decision-making in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the Nominal Ledger and Fixed Assets.
- Monitor daily cash flow and provide accurate cash flow forecasting.
- Complete weekly and monthly financial reporting in collaboration with Finance and Operations teams.
- Calculate accruals and prepayments, post journals, and ensure timely month-end close.
- Analyse monthly performance against prior month, budget, and prior year.
- Ensure balance sheet transparency by reconciling accounts monthly and resolving issues promptly.
- Assist with budgets and forecasts, including balance sheet and cash flow.
- Support both external and internal audit processes.
- Complete quarterly VAT Return and tax reconciliations.
- Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis for Senior Management.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a similar role; distribution, supply chain or logistics experience is desirable.
- AAT / Part Qualified CIMA or ACCA/ equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of foreign currency and tax handling (desirable).
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Sage is an advantage.
- Strong reporting, presentation, and risk management skills.
- Excellent relationship and collaboration skills.
